Sr. Director, Product Engineering (Non-Volatile Memory)

Job Description

Intel’s Non-Volatile Memory business is in search of a Sr. Director of Product Engineering, reporting to the VP of Memory Component Development who will make significant contributions to our memory component development, manufacturing readiness, continuous product improvement as identified through product health monitoring, and provide feed back into future designs ensuring manufacturing best practices are properly deployed onto new products.  In this role, you will grow and develop an organization of engineering professionals in order to meet both current and future business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team responsible for component engineering during NPI development on new process technologies as well as more mature qualified processes. You will drive the health of both test chips and products to meet component specifications that meet systems requirements such as SSDs.
  • Ensure the testability and manufacturability of both NAND component and SSD end products from new product introduction phase through production ramp.
  • Make significant contributions to manufacturing readiness, continuous product improvements as identified through product health monitoring, and feed back into future designs ensuring manufacturing best practices are properly deployed onto new products.
  • In addition to engineering oversight of products in test at the ODM, you will be responsible for being the point contact into the ODM leadership team for engineering communications and improving operational efficiencies.
  • Provide leadership, both within your organization as well as across organizations that depend on you for direction.
  • Partner closely with both external and internal stakeholders in order to further develop and maintain key relationships and strong communication.
  • Provide guidance and leadership in complex situations that require you to problem solve, prioritize and collaborate effectively while making rapid decisions to move projects forward.
  • Oversee the budgeting, performance management and project delivery but more importantly developing the capabilities of the organization.


Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in EE/CS/MS or related field; an advanced engineering degree Masters/Ph.D in one of those areas is preferred.
  • A minimum of 15 years engineering experience within the semiconductor industry with 5-10 years of technical leadership experience leading teams of 50+.
  • Product and test development knowledge of semiconductor components & systems, preferable Memory or Flash Non-Volatile Memory components.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing flows inclusive of wafer probe, component package test and SSD test.
  • Working knowledge of NVM test methods, test modes, device architecture, and SSD manufacturing test. 
  • You will need to be comfortable diving down into technical details as well as being able to summarize at a higher level for executive communication.
  • Experience with semiconductor component testing and characterization in a development environment as well as the ability to drive solutions to manufacturing.
  • You should have a proven track record of growing and developing an engineering organization and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams as well as business partners.

**If based out of Santa Clara, a travel expectation of 50-60% will be anticipated to the Folsom, CA location.

Non-Volatile Solutions Memory Group:  The Non-Volatile Memory Solutions Group is a worldwide organization that delivers NAND flash memory products for use in Solid State Drives (SSDs), portable memory storage devices, digital camera memory cards, and other devices.  The group is responsible for NVM technology design and development, complete Solid State Drive (SSD) system hardware and firmware development, as well as wafer and SSD manufacturing.
