External Communications Manager

Job Description

Work will be performed in partnership with the Oregon Public Affairs team as part of the overall site strategy. Actions carry significant risk of impact to Intel's image, reputation, and ability to do business.

Assignments are complex in nature; in this position, you will be responsible for:

  • Serving as media contact in the local Oregon site community.
  • Serving as a point of contact with key external stakeholders in the education and environmental communities.
  • Driving positive coverage of Public Affairs programs and engagements, including developing stories and content for use internal and external to the company through social media, marketing, and local pitches.
  • Supporting and managing potentially negative stories in site communities.
  • Partner internally with Corporate Services and Legal to develop external communications as relates to our environmental and government work.
  • Developing a site communications plan, and incorporating all appropriate external and internal channels developing collateral materials fact sheets, Q&A documents, etc.
  • Creating and delivering rich presentations.
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to site managers on matters related to Intel's public image.
  • Serving as communications advisor in site emergencies and during business recoveries.
  • Participating on cross-site communications projects and teams as assigned.
  • Partner with Global Marketing & Communications to understand when the corporate story takes priority over local stories and ensure alignment with global media and branding guidelines.

    The candidate should exhibit the following behavioral traits:

  • Ability to handle confidential information frequently and appropriately.
  • Ability to think strategically and ensure relevancy by "connecting-the-dots" and effectively map Intel's business objectives to external trends.
  • Ability to work well under pressure within a team environment and with all levels of management, as well as work independently and proactively with minimal direction.
  • Advanced knowledge of Intel's business environment and technologies and the ability to translate these to external audiences
  • Ability to manage, coordinate, and communicate complex and sometimes controversial issues clearly and concisely are requisite skills.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 1+ years of work experience in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Event Planning or related field or Master's Degree in a job related field.

At least 1 year of experience in:

  • Public speaking, writing, and editing skills
  • Engaging Media
  • Crisis communications
  • Effective communication practices among a diverse range of audiences or stakeholders
