SLAM Team Engineering Manager, RealSense Group

Job Description

Responsible for managing a team of computer vision engineers working on research and development of algorithms that allow localization and environment mapping of head-mounted displays used in Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality applications, and for mobile robots and drones.

The localization and environment mapping is based on on-board sensors and computing devices, also known in this context as inside-out Six Degrees of Freedom estimation/Simultaneous Localization and Mapping, 6DoF/SLAM. 

The successful candidate must be able to manage a team investigating, identifying, and implementing research ideas published in leading scientific proceedings as the team extends, optimizes and invents new algorithms in order to deliver the needed functionality. The candidate will work closely with product management to provide input for feature planning and roadmaps that and help shape future computer vision products.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science or related field and minimum of 10 years professional experience
  • Strong leadership and people skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability and inclination for breaking down complex systems into a set of manageable projects and follow up across multiple engineering teams to deliver cutting edge products
  • Expected to actively develop and coach a team, to define and communicate big picture plans and visions within the team and to higher management.
  • Fast learner, self-motivated and driven, passion for the related technology

    Perceptual Computing (PerC) is an organization within Intel tasked with the research, development, and productization of technologies for Natural User Interaction, encompassing both human to machine and human to human experiences. PerC aims to build technologies that would help users to have natural, immersive and intuitive interaction with computers through not only touch interface but also through hand gestures, voice and video. The objective of PerC is to explore consumer-focused hardware and software applications of close-range hand and finger gestures, speech recognition, face recognition and tracking, augmented reality and more.
