Automotive Functional Safety Specialist

Job Description

As Automotive Functional Safety Specialist, you will be the primary customer interface to uncover, understand and help progress Intel PSG’s Functional Safety (FuSa) strategy.  You will act as a conduit of communication between field / customer and factory for FuSa-related activities.  Working across organizations, both internal and external, you will help define and provide the FuSa components required to address the challenges of the developing Autonomous Driving market. This is a key hire for Intel’s Programmable Solutions Group and success in this role means contributing significant value to the company over the medium to long-term.

Responsibilities:

  • Interface with customer (OEM/Tier1/System Integrator) architects to arrive at system level safety architecture
  • Evangelize benefits of FPGA-based functional safety to internal and external stakeholders (including customers)
  • Create PSG Automotive functional safety marketing collateral
  • Define system level safety goals, safety requirements and associated safety architecture including hierarchy, interfaces and safety measures
  • Act as Automotive BG representative in cross-functional FuSa Core Team
  • Capture, prioritize, track and communicate customer-driven FuSa deliverables
  • Work with Intel internal architects to partition system level safety requirements for Intel automotive development platforms
  • Collaborate closely with other PSG organizations (e.g., PIPE, PSWE, Planning) to ensure we are developing a holistic FuSa solution across

Qualifications
• Knowledge of ISO26262 (or IEC61508) functional safety methodology and standard, Quality systems viz. Automotive SPICE, ISO/TS 16949, methods, procedures and tools (e.g. requirements management, FMEDA, FMEA, FTA, etc.) and customer related processes • BS+ in EE/ECE/CS or related/relevant engineering discipline • Knowledge of FPGA architecture, diagnostics, verification, validation and how they apply to FuSa • Engineering management or program management experience • Experience leading / driving / communication between cross-functional teams Preferred (Additional) Qualifications • Hands-on exposure to defining and implementing Safety Architecture for ADAS systems • Understanding of interplay between safety engineering & security engineering • Customer facing experience
