As the Senior Director of the Quartus Prime Compiler Group and Toronto Site Director you will lead the development of state of the art FPGA EDA Design Software for the Programmable Software Engineering group at PSG. The PSWE group is part of the larger Programmable Solutions Engineering (PSE) organization responsible for all aspects of software engineering delivering the capability of Intel FPGA technology to customers and enabling a smart and connected world.
The Quartus Prime Compiler team works on some of the most computationally difficult algorithmic problems in the world. You will work with some of the industry’s most accomplished technologists and lead a talented group of technical managers and engineers to help deliver best-in-class tools that power the industry’s most advanced semi-conductors. The team is based in Toronto and San Jose.
In your role as the Toronto Site Director you will work with a world-class engineering organization to ensure teams are sharing best practices and that the site continues to attract and retain top talent. You will have the chance to build strong relationships with leading researchers at the University of Toronto, the University of Waterloo and other renowned FPGA research groups. You will represent the site and articulate its value and philosophy to senior leaders within Intel.
In these roles, the successful candidate will: help define a technical roadmap that produces best-in-class EDA technologies, resource and direct activities in the Engineering function to meet schedules, standards and cost; interact directly with customers and other PSG organizations to understand emerging product needs; cultivate and reinforce appropriate group values, norms and behaviors; identify and analyze problems, plans, tasks, and solutions; establish and oversee standards of excellence for group performance; provide guidance on employee development, performance, and productivity issues; use judgment on a variety of problems requiring deviation from standard practices.
Directs the software systems development function, including the design, development, troubleshooting, and debugging of software programs for software enhancements and new products. Oversees the development of software and software tools used for design, infrastructure, and platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, and databases. Determines hardware compatibility and/or hardware design. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function
Inside this Business Group
BSEE with 15+ years of experience. Advanced degrees (MSEE) are a plus. Experience across a breadth of EDA software engineering and management including synthesis, place and route, timing analysis and device modeling for FPGA or ASIC is desired. Demonstrated strengths in stakeholder management, communication skills and inspirational leadership. Minimum of 5+ years of experience in leading and motivating a large organization to growth and successful execution. Able to manage a variety of complex functions and teams supporting a diverse set of software technologies. Role-models sound judgment in planning and decision-making.
