FW Engineering Manager

Job Description
In this position, you will manage the Vancouver, Canada 3DXP firmware development organization. You will manage the planning, validation and delivery of firmware of production quality firmware for all projects assigned to the Vancouver 3DXP teams. You and your team, will work across Marketing, Product Planning and Validation to establish engineering schedules, resourcing and development priorities for the product. Your teams will engage in co-development with our ASIC and 3DXP teams using virtual and FPGA platforms to develop leading edge SSD products and capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to apply business savvy, technical and management skills to plan and execute firmware development in a specific SSD market segment. As the Firmware product line manager your responsibilities will include but are not be limited to:-Setting clear expectations and hold team members accountable and incentivize proactive issue resolution to deliver world class products-Working with your staff and peers to deliver FW product development and validation plans, including: resourcing, prioritization, schedules, and budget.-Working directly with product planners, architects and your firmware development & validation team to analyze new product definitions, identify FW design requirements and build out FW development strategies & plans resulting in the successful closure of product planning milestones.-Build a strong team with culture of ownership, continuous learning, team work and an environment that engineers enjoy being a part of.-Facilitate all product management aspects of the assigned products including managing the firmware work backlog, schedules and coordinating all FW activities across the development teams to accomplish committed milestones.-Ensure program roadblocks are identified, corrective action plans identified and executed to closure.-Identify and drive to closure process improvement efforts to improve organizational efficiency overtime in the areas of deliverable quality, resource efficiency, code reuse, shift left development, etc.


Minimum requirements: - BS or MS in CS, CE or EE or related engineering discipline- 10 years of experience managing and leading software and /or FW development teams to deliver production quality software.- Demonstrated ability to manage projects through the entire SW product life cycle from Architecture through Customer release and deployment.- Demonstrated ability to partner with Marketing, Product Planning and Functional engineering teams to develop cohesive product plans.- Excellent oral and written communication skills- Must work independently, be proactive, multitask effectively and exhibit strong influencing and leadership skills with senior managementPreferred: - Product development experience with NAND based SSDs is a plus- Experience in Agile development practices, e.g.: scrum
