Firmware Engineer

Job Description

As a member of a skilled firmware team, you will develop products for the FPGA market. With embedded expertise, you will be responsible for delivering best in class platform firmware components of the products.

In this highly technical and hands-on role, essential duties and responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):

  • Designing, developing and integrating embedded firmware for FPGA
  • Analyzing and optimizing corresponding product level performance.
  • Working closely with our manufacturing team to provide firmware components necessary to configure and manufacture the drive.
  • Bring-up of development and silicon including providing test firmware/diagnostic firmware as necessary.


The successful candidate will have a minimum 5 years’ combination of knowledge and experience as follows:

  • BS EE / BS CS (or equivalent) and 5 years of experience.
  • Or MS EE / MS CS (or equivalent) and 3 years of experience.


  • Experience in embedded firmware; including debugging using JTAG based debuggers and analyzers.
  • Expert level in C programming and assembly (C run-time initialization).
  • Experience of HW related SW development using microcontrollers, HW boards, PCBs
  • Experience in embedded development tools (emulators, analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc)
  • Experience in Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) or Driver Development
  • Experience in analyzing waveform and low-level c/assembly debug skills.
  • Familiar with industry simulator such as VCS, modelSIM environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to succinctly describe and summarize highly technical firmware and/or system challenges.
  • Strong engineering aptitude for electronic/electrical systems, including ability to understand schematics as necessary for software/hardware integration.
