The Storage Technologies Group is leading advanced development of disruptive new products based on Intel Optane Memory technology and custom software solutions. These new storage devices and software deliver dramatic end-user responsiveness gains while also saving power and enabling thinner, lighter and more rugged mobile systems.
You will identify and architect new system features, system optimizations and implement product proof-of-concepts.
You will be part of a team responsible for defining and leading cross-group and cross-functional storage R&D initiatives that deliver value by improving performance, data security and reduced power consumption of Intel storage subsystems in client PCs and other devices. Results are achieved by leading successful transition into Intel storage software or SSD products.
You will implement proof of concept software and system demonstration vehicles to showcase your innovations.
You will also advocate and influence adoption of these new ideas in products by leading architecture definition and continuing to act as consultant through development, debug, validation, and in occasionally external customer interactions.
Responsibilities also include defining and executing detailed system level performance studies and experiments that identify limiters, then leveraging this understanding to improve Intel's platform.
You must have demonstrated strong software engineering and C/C++ programming skills on Windows,
Experience with kernel mode programming / device drivers and optimizing software performance with analyisis tools is strongly preferred.
Experience with C, Perl and/or Python languages and MS Visual Studio development environment is a plus.
Solid understanding of computer architecture, operating systems fundamentals, and knowledge of instrumentation and performance measurement techniques.
The ideal candidate will have experience with both Windows and Linux kernel mode driver development, esp. the storage stack and storage standards like SATA, NVMe, and eMMC.
Knowledge of non-volatile memory characteristics, BIOS, OROM and UEFI programming environment is also very beneficial.
