Commodity Manager Lead

Job Description

Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner. Acquires and maintains technical understanding of products purchased. Performs cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities. Obtains materials, components, equipment and services. Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are inadequate. Monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. May recommend cost saving proposals including make versus buy analysis, alternative sourcing and vendor evaluation criteria. At higher levels may require domestic or global expertise of assigned commodities. In this particular position, candidate will be expected to lead Supply Chain Strategy Creation/Execution with partner groups in Substrate Business group.

Activities will include:

-Partner with Technology Development groups

-Develop, update and drive commercial competition strategy and current situation summary for area

-Develop, update and drive Area supply chain strategic strategy with Tier 1/2 suppliers

-Tie Tier 1 and Tier 2 strategies together

-Lead selection activities Candidate will also need to support a certain percentage of sustaining activities also for internal factories which includes: Being the escalation path for Supply Chain Engineers/commodity managers to help identify root cause of supply chain availability or quality issues Work with TD Area Managers/GSM commodity managers to identify root cause of escalated supply chain availability or quality issues

-Own relationships with Key Suppliers Coach/Mentor CMs contract expirations, Ariba, Negotiation plans


Qualifications

Required:
-Bachelor’s degree with demonstrated business acumen/experience
-5+ years’ experience in either technology development, supply chain, marketing or business development
-Ability to successfully communicate in a professional manner with all levels of the supplier's management, internal Divisions and partners including development, planning, finance and manufacturing representatives to effectively drive commodity group and projects that deliver commitments on time
-Demonstrated leadership abilities in a multi-cultural team environment
-Very strong inter personal skills, stakeholder management expertise, negotiation skills, communication skills and influencing skill
-Strong, demonstrated, project management skills with a high level of attention to detail

Preferred:
-MBA in Supply Chain Management
-Supply Chain Management experience
-Commodity Management background
