Security Monitoring Analyst

Job Description
Cyber Security Center CSC Information Security Specialists ISSs are responsible for identification, analysis and mitigation of threats, to internal information technology systems or networks related to malware and cyber security events/alerts that are tied to Protect, Detect, Respond activities. CSC analysts must conduct unstructured investigative analysis of events/incidents and are responsible for managing the event through its lifecycle. Analysts should be capable of making decisions around prioritization of incidents based on the nature of the situation and should react with a heightened sense of urgency. ISSs may be engaged in security related projects as needed. ISS's must be strong problem solvers with the ability to methodically and objectively analyze and resolve information security challenges. ISSs must have the ability to identify opportunities for proactive work by using tools and information available. Additional responsibilities include some first point of contact duties for ITERP, DDoS monitoring and machine account disabling via EMP submission.Should be willing to work in Shifts or in times as required by the business.


Should have at least a Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Masters in Engineering with major in Information Security or related are preferred.Networking Fundamentals: Requires understand and manage key networking concepts that describe and differentiate different types of networks and networking technologies. Proficient understanding of TCP/IP concepts Demonstrated understanding of platform security fundamentals Hardware and Windows, Linux, strong understanding of Windows Operating system fundamentals and/or Windows Command Line Interface are a must. 1 or more years of experience in an NOC/SOC environment. Requires knowledge of security practices, procedures, and capabilities. Understanding of the SIEM concept/capabilities of gathering, analyzing and presenting information from network and security devicesStrong analytical and critical thinking skills. English skills at an intermediate to advanced level both written and spoken with strong communication skills are a mustThe analyst must be able to manage personal performance. To have an action orientation attitude is a must. Will need to have analytical and critical thinking skills to resolve complex problem solving and must be able to manage self-developmentCSC analysts must work in a team environment that requires strong communication and partnership with other group members to diagnose and resolve security related events. Preparation GSEC, GCIH, GCIA SANS certifications are preferred.CCNA SECURITYCertified Ethical Hacker knowledge is a strong plus. Understanding of web application threats and penetration testing concepts.Ability to conduct research, analysis and correlation across a wide variety of all source data sets.
