Qualifications & Experience

This is a fixed term contract initially.

Applicants should have an advanced degree (MSc) in computer engineering or related field, or they should have a bachelor’s degree and 3 years of work experience.

Key skills and interests you will need - bring some, develop others !

  • Software Defined Networking or Network Function Virtualisation
  • Instrumentation and monitoring from hardware through to application layer, and the use of analytics / machine learning techniques to deal with complex and multi-dimensional data.
  • Systems and scripting programming languages (e.g. C, Go, Python, bash)
  • Good knowledge and hands-on familiarity with Linux, TCP/IP, Mesos/Kubernetes/OpenStack setup and experimentation / management
  • Knowledge of API design and implementation including REST interfaces.
  • Knowledge of relational databases (knowledge of graph databases would be a distinct advantage)
  • Software engineering skills (e.g. test driven development, Agile methodologies)
  • Strong skills in bringing theoretical ideas to proof of concept and implementations

The successful candidate will gain experience in contributing to ground breaking research and collaborating with leading experts from both academic and industrial research teams across Europe.


This is for an 11 month Fixed Term Contract initially

We have a fantastic opportunity to work in our leading applied research team in Intel Labs focused on orchestration for Cloud Data Center (DC) and Networks.

We are looking for an innovative thinker who can build a deep understanding of the datacenter and/or network infrastructure management, service deployment and execution, that has strong software engineering skills with a leaning towards research

As part of our research team, the role will include the exploration and development of prototypes and specifications for novel orchestration capabilities enabling breakthroughs in efficiency, performance and dependability for environments including distributed, large scale and heterogeneous.

This role will suit candidates with a strong background in Software Defined Networks/Network Function Virtualisation and Cloud Computing, including deployment, testing, integration and validation of networking stacks. Responsibilities will include design and development of extensions to cloud stacks, instrumentation and monitoring as well as analytics framework development, with particular emphasis towards awareness of underlying hardware features across Compute/Memory/Network and accelerators such as MICs, GPUs & FPGAs and creation of intellectual property (including patentable concepts).
